Having your home services bundled together in a single bill saves not only time but also finances. Utility Warehouse is a UK-based energy firm established in 2002 by Telcom Plus. It is one of the oldest energy firms. With the acquisition of a subsidiary in 2013, it became the seventh-largest energy supplier in the UK at the time. Besides gas and power, Utility Warehouse undertakes other services like mortgage insurance, mobile broadband, and home phone.
Utility Warehouse score is a solid 71%, with bill accuracy and clarity at four stars and customer care and value for money at three stars. A 2020 September survey conducted on 66 clients did not have a star rating because the number of negative responses did not warrant a star. The firm has won Which? Awards in 2018 and 2020 for toping in the energy companies’ table. The award was also for the provision of the best mobile and broadband services.
The energy firm does not rely on advertisements but has agents who recruit new customers and earn by doing so. The authorized agents receive training and marketing materials from other UW partners to ensure the success of the recruitment process.
Utility Warehouse pays customers up to 200 pounds for switching all their home services from other suppliers. Additionally, in March 2021, UW compensated 27,000 of its customers a total of 95,500 pounds for overcharging them after a tariff or supplier switch between 2013 and 2020. In January 2020, the firm compensated 650,000 pounds for cheating clients comparable to the value cap. June 2019 recorded an increase in the number of Utility Warehouses by 4%.
In 2020, UW started a charitable organization set to plant 100,00 trees set to absorb 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide, thus conserving the environment. The UW woodland is in the Brecon Beacons, and the firm will plant a tree for every customer who takes up all of the warehouse’s services. The focus of the foundation is also towards the less privileged.
