Born on November 28, 1962, in London, England, Edwards grew up in a South London suburb with predominantly white neighbors. His family had to move to Jamaica when he was 13 to live in Kingston. Teased for his English accent, he eventually came to see everything and everyone from a different perspective. After high school, he was keen to become an interpreter, thereby learning Latin, German, and French. However, in college, he studied business and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business in 1984 and a master’s in 1989 in marketing and finance.
Trevor Edward’s career started in 1984 at Goldman Sachs investment banking firm, handling high-end clients. However, he soon found out he had no passion for it and quit with his parent’s guidance. He moved on to work at Colgate- Palmolive in brand marketing in 1986. Successful in his position, he changed companies to A athletic brand in 1992, taking up a regional marketing manager position. In 1995 he got his first significant promotion as the director of marketing America.
Later on, Trevor Edwards took charge of the European marketing department from 1997-99. Edwards further received a promotion as the vice president of marketing in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East before finally getting his promotion as the Vice President of U.S brand marketing. A hands-on man, he took charge of the marketing, advertisement, public relations, and brand design departments for a successful marketing career as Vice president.
